Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 leak, under-display camera says "very likely"

The Samsung Galaxy S21 didn't get the under-display camera we wanted, but it looks like the next Samsung Galaxy Z fold 3 could feature a killer phone upgrade for 2021.

A brief tweet from leaker Ice Universe makes the claim of an under-display camera, or what Samsung calls an under-panel camera (UPC), albeit with the phrase "very likely".

Samsung has already teased a UPC for laptops, so even if the final version of the Z Fold 3 does not feature a UPC, it is probably only a matter of time before it appears on Samsung phones.

Previous rumors about new features on the Z Fold 3 also said that the S Pen stylus would be available. Since Samsung just introduced S Pen support with the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the fate of the Galaxy Note line since the Galaxy Note 21 appears to be shaky, it makes sense for Samsung to add stylus support to this upcoming flagship It would be a good thing to do.

If you haven't yet seen the performance of the under-display camera, check out our review of the ZTE Axon 20 5G, the world's first phone with this feature. It's not quite up to the level of regular punch-hole or notched selfie cameras yet, but in time this will become the standard for all smartphones.

The Z Fold 3 may arrive in September, a year after the Z Fold 2. However, other rumors point to the possibility of a new Samsung foldable in May of this year. It could be the Z Fold 3, or it could be another foldable. After all, there are also rumors of a Galaxy Z Flip 3 and a new, less expensive folderable this year that might be called the Galaxy Z Fold Lite.

We expect the Z Fold 3 to be one of our picks for the best folderble, but there is still no significant competition for Samsung in this area. Huawei has the new Huawei Mate X2, which will launch in China on February 22, but the company still faces the challenge of not having access to the Google Play store.
