The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro may not get the same hype and applause as in the days of founder Carl Pei, but there is still plenty to be excited about in the upcoming flagships. And according to the latest leaks, the OnePlus 9 will have a high-capacity battery with fast charging, surpassing Samsung's Galaxy S21.

Noted OnePlus leaker Max Jambor (@MaxJmb) believes the upcoming phone will have a huge 4,500 mAh battery. This means we can expect a long life of 11 hours, just like the OnePlus 8 Pro and its 4,500 mAh battery.

It is worth noting that the regular OnePlus 9 will also have a 4,500 mAh battery, although the OnePlus 9 Pro is said to have the same battery size as last year's model. In contrast, last year's base model OnePlus 8 had a 4,300 mAh battery.

It is not only the battery size that is being upgraded in the OnePlus 9, but also the charging. Given that last year's OnePlus 8T had 65W warp charging, it is safe to assume that the OnePlus 9 will have at least that. At this speed, the phone can be fully charged in just 40 minutes.

To achieve this incredibly fast charging speed, OnePlus split the battery in two, using two 2,250mAh cells to charge two arrays at the same time.

It is unclear if OnePlus will follow Apple, Samsung, and Huawei in not bundling a charging brick with this year's devices. In Apple's case, an iPhone with USB Type-C would have helped immensely in that regard, but it is also unclear whether OnePlus will raise the bar on wireless charging technology. Last year's OnePlus 8 Pro offered 30W wireless charging, and the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 will ship in Europe this March with 50W wireless charging.

The OnePlus 9 is also expected to offer improved camera performance following its partnership with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad. This is an interesting combination, especially considering that Hasselblad's cameras cost over $30,000. Whether the Swedish camera company actually contributes to improved camera performance remains to be seen, as it is possible that this is merely a brand alliance.

The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are expected to launch this March.
