Asus ROG phone 5 benchmark just leaked - it's bad news for Galaxy S21

New benchmarks for the Asus ROG Phone 5 show it could be the most powerful Android phone ever.

Samsung's Galaxy S21 is already a high-performance phone, but the numbers found on the Geekbench 5 benchmark tool leaderboard show that Asus is poised to beat it. And that's all thanks to an insane amount of RAM.

This unknown Asus device scored 1,131 points in the single-core portion of the test and 3,729 points in the multi-core portion. These numbers beat the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, but lost to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Asus makes other phones, but the fact that a device scored so high indicates that it is the new ROG Phone.

Geekbench 5 can also record the specs of some devices. So we can see that this device has a huge 16 GB of RAM. This is an impressive amount of memory, comparable to the amount that can be optionally specified on the S21 Ultra.

We have previously seen an 8GB version of the ROG Phone 5 (via GSMArena) on Geekbench, but naturally its scores were less impressive at 1,081 and 3,584. Thus, Asus is offering two versions of this phone, presumably to attract users with more modest budgets.

Other key details of the ROG Phone 5 are a new programmable rear lighting system, a 64MP main rear camera, and a 6,000mAh battery. It is expected to be announced this summer. Retail release in the U.S. is likely to be in the fall, and the price is likely to be around $1,000.

According to the listing, the phone uses the Snapdragon 888 chipset and Android 11. These are the latest and greatest in terms of hardware and software, respectively, and are what Asus was expected to use in its new phone.

The existing Asus ROG Phone 3 is already a top pick for best gaming phone. Based on this success, Asus will have another winner in the Asus ROG Phone 5.

And while you may wonder where the Asus ROG Phone 4 is, the company will likely omit that name. This is because the number "4" has negative connotations in Asian cultures.
