Android 12 Leak reveals a huge redesign - Here's your first look

The first screenshots of Android 12 appear to have leaked.

The images, posted by Telegram user RKBD and corroborated by XDA Developers, show a sandy color scheme and a shift to even softer, rounder edges than iOS 14. many of the UI tweaks, like the clock moving to the upper left corner, are small ones, but there are also entirely new widgets and privacy tools.

These screenshots are apparently from a document that Google shared with partners to let them know what changes to expect in Android 12, so they don't necessarily reflect the final product.

However, the general visual differences from Android 11 are obvious, with pale yellow and green replacing the default color scheme of black, white, and gray in Android 11. There are also fewer transparency effects, including in the notification panel.

Meanwhile, the home screen appears to include the rumored new "conversation" widget, which will display the latest message or one of your missed calls.

The widgets have more rounded corners than their Android 11 counterparts, and this design change is also seen in overall UI elements such as notifications and quick settings tiles. On that note, the notification panel now displays only four tiles instead of the six tiles in Android 11.

One major addition is a section of privacy and status icons that appear in the upper right corner of the screen. These icons indicate whether an app is using or has recently used one of the phone's sensors, such as the camera or microphone; according to XDA, support for this feature will be mandatory for Android phone manufacturers. As such, it could help provide a clearer picture of an application's sensor use than the current permission system provides.

Allegedly, Android 12's new privacy settings will also allow users to completely disable microphones and cameras individually.
