Wanda Vision Episode 5 Recap - This Will Change Everything

Wanda Vision Episode 5 Recap - This Will Change Everything

Just by ringing a bell, Wander Vision Episode 5 has turned the MCU (and future Disney Plus programming) upside down. And since this big news is a bit confusing, we're going to break it down for you right now.

Consider this a spoiler warning, of course - we're diving into the story of Episode 5 and what it means for the show and the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward.

To give you some background on this big deal, "It was a very special episode..." Let's take a look at the rest of episode 5 of Wandervision. First, the opening credits are a homage to "Family Ties" and a paint-by-numbers visual.

This week is all about life, death, and grief. Not only do Wanda and Vision's baby grow up to be a young child (and 10 years old) before saying "Avengers Assemble," they also find a dog. The dog is named Sparky, after the events at the outlet (and yes, there is a synthzoid dog named Sparky in the comics, which Vision created).

Then we return to reality and see how constant death has been in Wanda's life. Agent Hayward informs officials that Wanda's parents Irina and Oleg (more on Oleg later) were killed in a Sokovia air raid in 1999, when she was 10 years old. She and her brother Pietro were then "radicalized" (Hayward's words) by Hydra. This was all before she gained the Avengers' trust and was involved in attacks in Lagos and Germany during Captain America: Civil War

Next, footage of someone believed to be Wanda breaking into S.W.O.R.D. headquarters to steal Vision's body The image is shown, and sadness floods the audience again. All of the performers say that Wanda is acting out of grief, but it is unclear what made her do this.

As Wanda tries to be a good mother, one of her sons (they look too much alike) asks if she has a brother. She wonders, and he replies, "They are far away." But as we know, Pietro is dead. Perhaps she is referring to the tomb where he is.

After Hayward foolishly tries to fire a missile at Wanda with his drone, Wanda emerges from the hex (Darcy's term for a dividing gate, because of its hexagonal shape). And she looks 100% like the Scarlet Witch we all know and love. And she is also seen on the tape that took Vision's body away.

When Monica asks Wanda what she wants, Maximoff replies, "I have what I want and no one can take it away from me anymore." This "again" is practically a shout out that Westview is a manifestation of Wanda's grief at losing her entire family. In Westview, they are safe.

After a brief commercial advertising Lagos brand paper towels and the aforementioned flashback to Wanda's past, we learn that Sparky is dead.

Sparky eats some of Agnes' flowers, and Billy and William shockingly demand that their mother just bring Sparky back to life. This is in keeping with the trend of the episode where the townsfolk do not act as if everything is normal. Agnes even asked Wanda if she wanted her to repeat one of her lines.

But Wanda tells her sons not to run from their grief, which seems a bit hypocritical. She says, "You can't overturn death."

And it all leads up to the big finale. After Vision and Wanda have a little spat, he begins to understand that everything is very wrong. Wanda insists that it is not her fault. Vision naturally doubts her.

And at the door is Pietro Maximoff - but he is not played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who played him in "Avengers: Age of Ultron"). Tonight, it is Evan Peters who will play Pietro.

Yes, it is Evan Peters, who exclusively played Quicksilver in the Fox films X-Men Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. And with this scene, the Disney takeover of 20th Century Fox, which owned the rights to everything related to the X-Men and mutants, was realized on the screen.

Darcy, like anyone who has not seen the later X-Men films, is like, "They changed the cast of Pietro?"

and is puzzled. But the message comes through loud and clear to those watching at home.

Should we trust Wanda to say that this version of her brother in Westview is not her fault? Does this mean that there is someone else who is equal to her power?

In any case, the wall between Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fox's X-Men films no longer separates these worlds. This opens up the possibility of Magneto, the X-Men, and all sorts of other additions to Phase 4 of the MCU.

Magneto reminds me that Wanda's father was named Oleg. A quick internet search revealed that Oleg V. Tzoni was a famous scientist born in the Soviet Union who specialized in ...... Yes, it was magnetism. [The possibilities for a Marvel movie or a Disney Plus show were completely open.

Speaking of which, early in the episode, Monica Rambeau mentioned an aerospace engineer who might be able to help them all. A quick glance at the Marvel character index led me to believe that Reed Richards might appear in Wandervision.

Anyway, Wandervision fans, what do you think about the big twist in Wandervision episode 5?
