OnePlus9 can copy the best function of OnePlus8T

It is not unusual for a phone to get a little upgrade every year, but it is unusual for one feature to be so good that the next generation cannot top it. That may be what is happening with the OnePlus 9.

According to Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 9 may use the exact same display as the OnePlus 8T. That's not a bad thing, though.

In our review of the OnePlus 8T, we noted that the phone has an excellent display. We especially liked the ultra-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and solid color gamut, though we were a little disappointed that it didn't have QHD+ resolution.

In other words, it's good that the OnePlus 9 may adopt this display. There always remains the possibility, however unlikely, that the new display will not perform as well as the previous model.

As Digital Chat Station noticed, the OnePlus 8T does not have the best display in the DxOMark ratings. However, its second place ranking is much better than being at the bottom of the list. However, we will have to wait and see if a recently released smartphone can top this performance.

This is the downside of sticking with old technology: other companies will keep tweaking and may come up with something that knocks you off your perch. dxOMark takes time to test phones, so we may see something like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

But the S21 Ultra is a very good phone.

However, nothing about the OnePlus 9 Pro is mentioned in this rumor. Usually, OnePlus Pro models have higher resolution displays.

However, since there was no OnePlus 8T Pro, the company cannot reuse the same screen as before; unless it uses the OnePlus 8 Pro's display, but according to Digital Chat Station, the 8 Pro's DxOMark is is much lower than that of the 8T. After all, it would be an odd decision to give the Pro model a worse screen.

Information so far suggests that the OnePlus 9 will be released early in March instead of the usual mid-spring launch. Rumors suggest that the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will feature 6.55-inch FHD+ and 6.78-inch QHD+ displays, respectively, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chip, a 4,500mAh battery, a 50MP main lens, 20MP wide-angle lens, and 12MP telephoto zoom lens. It is said to have a triple-lens camera system. Both models are expected to come with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB and 256GB storage options.

It may take a bit more for the OnePlus 9 to make it to the top of our best phones list. But we'll have to reserve judgment until spring, when we'll have to wait for the OnePlus 9 to make its way to the top of our list.
