The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 could be unveiled in July, pushing the company's efforts to bring foldable phones into the mainstream.

That's a longer wait than you might have expected, but it's earlier than last September's launch. And if that's not enough, remember that Samsung may release other foldable phones before then.

We have rumors that the Z Fold 3 will be released in May. However, this does not match what Ice Universe, a reliable leaker, has said. Furthermore, there is a possibility that this May release foldable is actually the all-new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Lite.

As its name suggests, the Z Fold Lite will be a new, less expensive model designed to promote the proliferation of Samsung's foldable Galaxy Z phones; an announcement is expected in Q1 2021.

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 2 was announced in September 2020 and is a significant improvement over the original Galaxy Fold; current rumors and leaks about the Galaxy Z Fold 3 combined suggest that there will be less dramatic changes between generations this time.

However, two subtle but exciting changes, the under-display camera and S Pen/stylus compatibility, could add more versatility to the phone. In addition, we can expect the phone to follow the design of the Galaxy S21 and be slightly smaller in overall size.

The original Galaxy Z Flip was launched in February 2020, and an improved version, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, was launched simultaneously with the Z Fold 2. This smaller foldable is said to be a follow-up to the Z Flip 3. A Z Flip Lite model, identical to the Z Fold Lite, may also be on the horizon.

In the past, Samsung's smartphone late-year release events have been spearheaded by the Galaxy Note series, most recently the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Rumor has it that Samsung plans to stop production of Galaxy Note phones, but before that happens, we may still get the Galaxy Note 21 this year.

Samsung's foldable phones already occupy the top two spots on our Best Foldable Phones list, and while it's still unclear at this point what we'll get from the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, the new generation is sure to be a contender for the aforementioned list and Best Smartphones. There is no doubt that the new generation will be a contender for the aforementioned lists and best phones.
