Microsoft is planning games, Cloud, and Windows events— and they will start on Thursday

Microsoft appears to be preparing a PowerPoint presentation to showcase the future of Windows and beyond. According to a new report, the company will be conducting a series of live streams showcasing its ambitions for the operating system, Microsoft 365 suite (and work in general), security, gaming, and the cloud.

The upcoming Windows event will likely showcase a refreshed version of Windows 10, codenamed "Sun Valley." Also, it's been a while since we've heard anything about Windows 10X, so that may be on the agenda as well.

This is, of course, the company's way of doing things differently during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic while it cannot hold live events due to the rule of social distancing.

The news comes from an article in The Verge, which notes that it has "learned" of Microsoft's plans for "a series of news events over the next few months."

The first event is titled "Reimagine the Employee Experience" and will take place this Thursday, February 4, at 9:00 a.m. ET; since it was posted by a Microsoft 365 account, it will be the first time that Teams, Word, Excel, and other Office suites will see how they have been updated for optimal coworking.

Hosted by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Microsoft 365 Corporate VP Jared Spataro.

As for gaming events, Microsoft's XCloud and Xbox Game Pass seem to be the most likely candidates for news. Since nothing resembling a regular E3 will be held this year, Microsoft may leave the game announcements for its own stream. At this point, it is unclear when Microsoft's gaming events will be.

These events will reportedly not replace Microsoft's Build and Ignite events, but rather augment them as a series of announcements.

Nothing has been announced about how Microsoft plans to announce the Surface Pro 8, as it has just made a minor update to the Surface Pro 7+ for business and education users.
