iCloud password comes to Google Chrome with Apple's official extension

When looking for the best password manager these days, there's basically no shortage of options. iCloud Keychain, as Apple users know, can store all of your saved passwords, but it's about to get even easier to use.

Apple just released the official iCloud Passwords extension for Chrome, which allows you to access all your saved passwords from your browser; even Windows users can use this extension on Windows and Mac.

The extension was accidentally revealed last week in an update to the Windows 10 iCloud app that promised a new feature described as "Support for iCloud Passwords Chrome Extension." That update was a bit premature, as no such feature existed a week ago. But now everything is catching up.

If you've ever used Safari to automatically generate secure passwords, it's all available here as well. Likewise, passwords saved in Chrome will be synced to your account and available on Safari, iPhone, and iPad.

As is the case with other devices, the iCloud Passwords extension will provide associated saved passwords to make login easier and faster.

The extension is available for installation now in the Chrome Web Store and is compatible with Chrome for Windows and Chrome for Mac. And like most Chrome extensions, it also works with Microsoft's Edge browser, so no one will be left out of this release. Well, unless you're using Firefox.
