Asus ROG Iphone5 display, charging and design revealed

Mobile gamers will be interested to hear that the Asus ROG Phone 5 will feature faster charging and a larger display among its upgrades.

The significantly improved screen and new battery setup are listed on two Chinese regulatory lists detailing what appears to be the final version of the phone.

According to the listings, Asus will include a total battery capacity of 6,000 mAh in the ROG Phone 5. This figure has been rumored before and is the same size as the cells in the Asus ROG Phone 3. However, China's MIIT listing reveals that the new phone will actually have two 3,000 mAh batteries, rather than one large battery like the ROG Phone 3.

This arrangement should mean much faster charging speeds, as the two batteries can be fully charged at the same time from the same power input. This is how the OnePlus 8T's 65W charging system worked to great effect, getting the 4,500 mAh battery to 93% full in just 30 minutes.

The listing further reveals that the display is a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel. This is slightly larger than the ROG Phone 3's 6.6" display; Asus will likely maintain the same 144 Hz refresh rate as the ROG Phone 3 to ensure a smooth gaming experience on the ROG Phone 5.

The screen has a top bezel for the selfie camera rather than a notch or punch hole; it's not quite a full-screen display as the teaser from Asus suggests, but having part of the screen removed for the camera doesn't help when gaming.

The image of the TENAA entry posted on Twitter by the_tech_guy clearly shows "05" on the back of the handset. This almost confirms that the name of the phone is the ROG Phone 5.

Also visible in the center of the back is the dot matrix lighting array from previous leaks. This is less colorful than the RGB logo on previous ROG Phones, but appears to be quite customizable in terms of shape and movement.

Not surprisingly, the listing also confirms that the ROG Phone 5 will use Android 11.

The last model in the series was the ROG Phone 3, but this model is not called the ROG Phone 4. This is because the number 4 is associated with bad luck in certain Asian countries.

If the ROG Phone 5 follows the ROG Phone 3 launch schedule, it is expected to be released in July and reach the United States in October. However, given the amount of information that has already leaked, it is possible that it will launch earlier this year.

The ROG Phone 3 sits proudly at the top of our best gaming phones list. According to these leaks and previous rumors, there is a good chance that the ROG Phone 5 will inherit that position.
