Windows 10 updates tend to get more negative buzz than positive press. For once, however, we want to sound a positive whistle on the next version of Windows.

Even better, the various changes coming to Windows 10 offer something for everyone. The virtual touch keyboard, jump menus, and touchpad are all better and improved.

As announced by Microsoft, there is a new update for Windows 10 that shows many upcoming improvements. If you want to try these out yourself, they are included in preview build 21301, which is distributed to all Insiders in the Dev Channel.

And when will these features be released, according to the latest information from Windows, they could appear in the Windows 10 Fall 2021 Update. Let me elaborate!

The touch keyboard is very important for those who use tablet mode, and this update will add some new benefits. When the physical keyboard is removed from the PC, Windows 10 will automatically switch to a smaller keyboard layout. The latter was a problem for me, as every time I tried to use the virtual keyboard on my small PC, it took up half of the screen.

Because the virtual keyboard needs to be moved frequently, Microsoft has tweaked the "gripper area" (the space where you hold down your finger to start moving objects) to make it a "faster typing experience" in Windows Latest. windows 10 version In Microsoft's words in the 20206 release notes, the gripper area is useful for "those who prefer to keep the keyboard unstuck."

There have also been changes to the touch keyboard menu, where the menu now consists of nested sections.

Users with screens larger than 12 inches will get a "more traditional keyboard layout" as Microsoft adds buttons for Escape, Tab, Windows, and more.

Microsoft has also tweaked the touch keyboard by adding a password feedback icon. Located to the left of the space bar, this symbol visually indicates that the user is tapping on the touch keyboard while entering a password.

The next major change is the jump menu, and this tweak is definitely for power users. The Jump Menu appears when you right-click on the currently open program in the taskbar and displays the most recently opened files associated with that program. For example, a document worked on in Word or a file opened in Windows Explorer will be displayed.

In the new update, you will be able to navigate to the directory where those files are located by right-clicking again on the Jump menu item. This is quite a useful feature, as it saves time in searching for files and folders.

Finally, many people will have more control over the touchpad; in this preview of Windows 10, disabling and enabling the touchpad [Settings > Devices > Touchpad] does not require administrative privileges.
