With the Samsung Galaxy S21 announced and shipping at the end of this month, the focus would normally be on the next Galaxy Note, as Samsung's phablet will appear later this year. However, many rumors suggest that Samsung may abandon plans for the Galaxy Note 21 rather than release an update in 2021.

However, Samsung may be working on a lower-priced Galaxy Note 20 FE for those who want an S Pen phone at a lower price.

Ice Universe is a leaker who pours cold water on the Galaxy Note's future. The anonymous leaker posted a rather snarky tweet on Twitter with an archaic "The End" title card in curly font captioned only "Galaxy Note." Of course, it's not hard to decipher its meaning. Because it's a hint that Samsung may this time make the Note brand disappear for good.

The Galaxy Note has seemed to be in a precarious state for some time now, as rumors circulated last year that Samsung had not yet begun production of the Galaxy Note 21. For example, the Galaxy S21 Ultra supports the S Pen, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is rumored to do the same.

Some sources have pushed back the Note Is Dead rumor. Samsung officials reportedly claim that there will be a new Note in 2021, and at CES this month, a phone that looks a lot like a future Note phablet appeared in a teaser video.

Still, the Ice Universe tweets will revive talk that the Note is a goner, especially with industry analyst Ross Young tweeting that the Note's demise is a done deal this year.

There is still a bit of a silver lining here. Young's tweet states that the Galaxy Note 20 FE may be on the way, just as Samsung released the Galaxy S20 FE last year; Young also suggests that the absence of the Note 21 could boost Galaxy S21 sales, and Young's calculations that the Galaxy S21 could end up outselling the Galaxy S10 in 2019.

Samsung has yet to make an official comment on the matter, but at this point it seems almost a formality to say goodbye to the Note; with the S series as well as the company's future focus on folding phones, Samsung already has a lot on its plate. For longtime loyal Note users, it may be over.
