The Muppet show is finally coming to streaming in all of its original glory

It's time to turn on the music and turn on the lights: The Muppet Show is finally available for streaming. Yes, after years of waiting for this iconic series to become available for streaming online, all five seasons are now available on Disney Plus.

In a press release, Disney Plus eagerly informed media outlets that the fourth and fifth seasons would be available, as they had "never before been released on home entertainment."

The show will be Disney Plus' latest high-profile offering, following "Wander Vision," which debuted on February 19 and will have its season finale on March 5.

Fans have been waiting for a moment like this since 2004, when Disney acquired the rights to The Muppets from The Jim Henson Company.

Why did it take so long? That is unknown, but it could be the always difficult music rights. As noted in an email sent by Disney Plus, musical guests included "Elton John, Liza Minnelli, Alice Cooper, Julie Andrews, Bernadette Peters, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Gene Kelly, and Mark Hamill."

And while it makes sense that all of The Muppet Show is in Disney Plus, with its Muppets movies, TV shows, short films, and its own original series, Muppets Now, not all of the Jim Henson Company's library is under its not all of the Jim Henson Company's library is under that umbrella.

"Muppets from Space" and "The Muppets Take Manhattan" are not on subscription streaming services; they must be purchased or rented on Amazon, Apple, or Vudu.

Apple TV Plus includes all four seasons of The Jim Henson Company's Fraggle Rock and the six-episode series Fraggle Rock: an Apple TV Plus original from 2020.
