One UI 3 is not only a radical new design, but also a number of interesting features. As of January 14, it is available for Samsung Galaxy devices, and Galaxy S20 users in the US, Korea, and Europe will be the first to receive the update.

Devices receiving One UI 3 will receive a complete overhaul, including a new lock screen, home screen, notification center, and quick panel. These areas will add haptic feedback and improve animations and motion effects. There are also options to redesign widgets and add Dim and Blur to notifications.

Some of the new One UI 3 widgets allow access to additional information on the phone without having to unlock the device. These include weather, calendar, music, Bixby routines, screen time, and more. The size and transparency of the widgets can also be changed, making them more manageable. Messages are grouped and displayed front and center to keep them front and center in the user's mind. There is also a new edge-to-edge full-screen video call setup, reminiscent of Apple's FaceTime.

Perhaps most importantly, a lot of attention has been paid to making the transition between devices flow more seamlessly for users who have multiple Android and Galaxy devices. Samsung promises support for all the new features of One UI 3 across all Galaxy devices as you involve each of the different devices in your life.

Other under-the-hood improvements in One UI 3 include better auto exposure and auto focus, and impressive AI-based tools such as improved zoom. In a photo effect called "Object Eraser," users can simply tap the person they want to remove from a photo and watch the AI do the rest of the work for them and make them disappear.

UI customization promises to be simpler and more extensive than ever with OneUI 3. With a few taps on the Quick Panel, you can now customize your phone to your liking with minimal effort. You can turn on mobile hotspots, pin frequently used shared locations, contacts, and messaging apps, and even set up different profiles based on how you want to use the device.
