Honor fans will be excited to learn that the company has unveiled a capable new fitness tracker: the Honor Band 6, unveiled at the 2021 CES, is an inexpensive wearable with a two-week battery life that will soon hit the US market.

As a follow-up to the equally affordable Honor Band 5, the Honor Band 6 costs about $35 and has the most attractive screen of any Honor Band to date. Its 1.47-inch AMOLED display contains about 2.5 times more pixels than the previous generation model, plus the Band 6 features a prominent Honor logo on the side.

Normally, I don't like obvious branding, but it is interesting to see how Honor is trying to stand out when so many inexpensive fitness trackers have similar designs.

In addition to a heart rate monitor, the Honor Band 6 includes an SpO2 monitor, a notable wearable feature in that it monitors respiratory health; like the Honor Band 5, the Band 6 includes TruSleep, the company's sleep tracking technology. Some users may also find the stress monitoring and management on Honor's smartwatches useful, although it was not present in Band 5; Band 6 also allows for cycling tracking;

The company has also added a new feature, the "workout" feature, which allows users to "workout" and "sleep" in the same way that they would workout in Band 5.

When working out, the Honor Band 6 can automatically detect six different workout types and track a total of 10 workout types, including swimming. This is not much more than the best fitness trackers, i.e., the new Amazfit models announced at CES, but it is reasonable for a model of the same price.

The final upgrade of the Honor Band 6 over the Honor Band 5 is battery life; the Band 5 lasted one week on a charge, while the Band 6 is claimed to last two weeks of normal use; Honor rates the Band 6 for 10 days of use in a "heavy use scenario."

Honor claims that the Band 6 will last for two weeks under normal use, but you will have to test that estimate for yourself.

Honor's new activity tracker will likely compete with the Amazfit Band 5 and the new OnePlus Band, a cheaper tracker that has already arrived in India. However, neither wearable has an exact release date in the U.S. yet.
