While the robot in Pixar's "WALL-E" seems a long way off, Samsung got things started at the 2021 CES with the unveiling of its all-new home assistant robot, Bot Handy, as part of its new robot lineup.

While Samsung's Bot Handy is still in development, we are certainly intrigued by its futuristic and definitely creepy features. The bot is designed to rely on advanced AI technology to make housework easier. Not only can it recognize and move objects of various shapes and sizes, but it can also distinguish between materials to determine the amount of force needed to move an object. It can also fill a dishwasher with water, take in laundry, and pour wine.

Sebastian Sun, president of Samsung Research, described Bot Handy as "an extension of you in the kitchen, living room, and other places in the home where you need help."

Bot Handy's sleek design has certainly caught attention. In some ways, the robot resembles the PS5 in its tall, black-and-white design. Samsung's Bot Handy can rotate its arms using three joints and can grab objects with its clamp-like hands. It also has a camera attached to the top of its body to help determine its path of travel. Unlike humans, the bot-handie can raise its body high enough to easily reach objects on shelves.

All in all, Bot Handy's features creep us out a bit. But with two adorable digital eyes that can change facial expressions, we can't help but admire this futuristic creation.

However, it remains to be seen if Samsung's announcement of a new robot will ultimately be a harbinger of mass slacking like "Wally"; a release date for Bot Handy has not announced.
