Microsoft is working to fix the annoying Xbox Series X controller bug

The Xbox Series X has one particularly annoying glitch that could interrupt your next marathon session, and it's so basic that you'll probably be disappointed that this is still happening with the "next generation" console.

In a Microsoft forum thread titled "XBOX Series X Controller keeps disconnecting," users report the most frustrating issue. Fortunately, Microsoft is working on this.

The original post from user PanayiotisIoannou briefly describes the problem: "When loading Assassins Creed Valhalla, the controller repeatedly connects and disconnects on its own. For example, it connects and disconnects about 5 times within 10 seconds, which makes the game unplayable."

The same threads are also present.

In the same thread, user dirthurts noted that PC gamers are also affected, writing, "This problem still affects PCs; MS acts like they fixed it with an "optional update" but it still remains."

The post, which was uploaded on November 13, 2020, has now ballooned into a 43-page thread. And it has caught the attention of Microsoft. A company representative told The Verge, "We are aware that some players may be experiencing disconnects with the new Xbox wireless controllers, and our team is actively working on a solution to include in a future update."

As for how widespread the issue is, the "I have the same question" counter currently stands at 1,772 at the time of the article's publication.

Note that review tests of the Xbox Series X have not shown this issue. [This is because the issue is a flaw that could lead to controllers being thrown around in heated matches of "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War."
