Samsung Galaxy S21 pre—order reservations just went live - what you need to know

Samsung has yet to announce the Galaxy S21, nor has it confirmed rumors of an official launch on January 14. However, it does not change the fact that the handset maker has been increasing its interest in the upcoming release of the phone.

You can pre-order the Galaxy S21 by filling out a form on Samsung's website. The form does not name the Galaxy S21 specifically - Samsung only says "the next Galaxy" - but with rumors suggesting a release next month, it is a pretty safe bet as to which phone the company has in mind.

You would be registering for the Galaxy S21 not to buy it unseen, but to have the first right to pre-order the device when it is finally announced. Samsung has done similar pre-order registrations when it has announced past flagship models such as the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20.

In addition to claiming one's place in the virtual queue to reserve a GalaxyS21, the process of actually placing an order is also streamlined. On the form, you enter your name, email, and zip code. Presumably, all of this information will be in place when you actually order your Galaxy S21.

Samsung is offering another incentive to register a pre-order now. Users can also initiate a trade-in process if they choose, and receive up to $700 credit for trading in their current device; to receive the $700 credit, users must have an iPhone 12 or Galaxy Note 20/ Galaxy S20, or any other high-end smartphone released in 2020. There is also a screen cracking credit of up to $550, although for a limited time.

In previous years, Samsung has offered more accessory credits to early pre-orders, but $50 is still a solid incentive. And since the Galaxy Pad Pro is rumored to cost $200, any credit helps.

There are still only rumors about how much the Galaxy S21 will cost, but the latest information we've seen is promising: reports on Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus specs indicate that these phones will be priced slightly lower than the Galaxy S20. The Galaxy S20's price starts at $999, so we expect it to be even cheaper when the time comes to actually order the new phones.
