The Nvidia RTX3080Ti has reportedly been delayed thanks to AMD's unimpressive show

Nvidia's RTX 3080 Ti has reportedly been delayed from January to February. Similarly, AMD's RX 6000 series is proving to be less of a threat.

According to German journalist Igor Wallossek of Igor's Lab, Nvidia waited to launch the RX 6000 series before officially announcing the RTX 3080 Ti. Compared to the RX 6800 XT's 16GB of RAM, but the buzz never left Nvidia. [On paper, the RX 6800 XT should pull away from Nvidia. However, in our testing, the two cards were nearly neck-and-neck on titles like Cyberpunk 2077, with Team Green leading in some cases.

According to Wallossek's sources throughout the supply chain, the 3080 Ti will be available after Chinese New Year (February 11-17) Tom's Guide was able to corroborate this with its own sources.

Compared to the standard RTX 3080, the upcoming 3080 Ti will reportedly double the RAM to 20GB. For most titles, this would be overkill. However, for games like Cyberpunk 2077, Digital Foundry's testing shows that the RTX 3090's 24GB of GDDR6X RAM is beneficial to overall performance.

There is also information that two RTX 3060s will be announced at the 2021 CES: the RTX 3060 12GB is intended to compete with the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB. Meanwhile, the 3050 Ti will be rebranded as the RTX 3060 6GB; the 12GB variant is expected to be a significant upgrade over the RTX 2060 Super, which had 8GB of RAM.

Wallossek has heard various information about the 3060 from different sources. This could be a miscommunication on Nvidia's part or a tactic to try to discern who the leaker is. For this reason, Wallossek cautioned against revealing any more detailed information. At this time, the RTX 3060 line is rumored to be released in January.
