The Google TV-powered Chromecast is about to get a little smarter, but it needs your help to do so: the new Chromecast, the first Google TV device, is getting a new tool this week to tweak its recommendation engine.

The Content Preferences tool functions very simply. It displays a visual stack of movie and show cards, which you swipe left or right. This is like Tinder, but for TV shows and movies, as well as for updating Google TV recommendations.

Specifically, "Like" a show. will tell Google TV that you want more of it, and vice versa. then you can tell Google TV that you want it to do more of this. However, accessing this feature requires a bit of research.

First, go to your profile picture in the upper right corner and select "Settings. Next, under "Content Settings," you will find this way to approve or disapprove movies and programs. You are supposed to see the effect of your decision under the "For You" tab.

Google says this feature will "roll out over the next few weeks." Included in this update is a new feature in the Settings app that will allow you to add new streaming services to which you are subscribed, "so you can start seeing recommendations from the latest apps."

Chromecast with Google TV already allows you to tell it whether you like or dislike what it offers on the home screen. However, as explained earlier, the only drawback is that the programs do not disappear and replace themselves immediately. However, as we explained in our review of Chromecast with Google TV, this is not a deal-breaker, as it has many advantages.
