This stunning Samsung Galaxy S21 design blows away the iPhone12

While Apple's flat display in the iPhone 12 won the admiration of many tech reviewers who were tired of curved displays, Samsung seems to be taking screens that melt off the edge to the next level.

A patent filed by Samsung in late October, discovered by the Dutch website Let's Go Digital, shows a supposedly Samsung Galaxy S21 design that would make the Galaxy Fold 2 look docile.

Like Xiaomi's Mi Mix Alpha, the Galaxy S21 could feature a display that wraps around the entire device. Unlike the Mi Mix Alpha, which had stripes that cut off the display to accommodate the camera module, Samsung appears to have avoided this by creating a sliding mechanism.

Yes, according to the patent application, the new phone will employ a similar mechanism to showcase the camera, just as sliding feature phones did 15 years ago; Let's Go Digital has also put together a video showing a rendering of it. Please note that this is not an official video by Samsung.

If this is true, then this Galaxy S21 model is not actually a phone with a true wraparound display. Instead, it has two curved displays sandwiched together.

And what about the front-facing camera? Samsung may use an in-display camera, which would eliminate the need for a camera hole or notch. However, we have heard that the Galaxy S21 does indeed have a punch hole. Therefore, this could be an entirely different model or an early incarnation of an entirely new Samsung phone.

No release date has been set for the Galaxy S21, but rumors suggest it will be available in January 2021. Check out the Galaxy S21 hub for the latest leaks.
