However, the math changes a bit when you remember that the Animal Crossing Edition is one of the rarest Nintendo Switch models available and is almost never available.

One more caveat: buying a system now means a pre-order that won't ship until January 27, 2021. But buying now means you are guaranteed a hard-to-find console and an even harder-to-find variation. If you're dying for the most stylish Switch on the market (and can wait a bit to receive it), get this one while you can - stock probably won't be available for long.

Before you buy the Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing Edition, you should know that it doesn't actually come with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As of this writing, the game is available at GameStop and Target, but is sold out on Amazon. Of course, once you get the console, you can download the game directly from the Nintendo eShop.

Animal Crossing: Switch Edition has an interesting retail history. Released alongside Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it was largely unavailable for several months after the initial pre-orders sold out. By the end of 2020, however, retailers began to restock regularly, including Amazon during Prime Day. The system did not sell out instantly, suggesting that Nintendo is producing these at a fairly reliable pace. However, they are not in stock forever, and it is unclear how long Nintendo will continue to manufacture them.
