Samsung Galaxy S21 Leak reveals all 3 models - and Game-changing displays

New leaks of the Samsung Galaxy S21 have revealed what Samsung's next-generation smartphone could look like, albeit as a dummy metal unit.

Following the almost daily series of Galaxy S21 leaks, Ice Universe tweeted an image of the dummy unit, giving us our first look at what the Galaxy S21 could look like in the real world. This is based on the Galaxy S21 renderings we have seen recently.

The rightmost model shows the Galaxy S21's rather oddly shaped camera block. This confirms the previously leaked renderings, where the protruding glass bump is more clearly visible; unlike the Galaxy S20's rectangular camera block, the Galaxy S21's module is positioned around the left side of the phone, making it more of a design feature than previous Galaxy phones design than previous Galaxy phones.

The curved edges of the Galaxy S21 are also most prominent on the rightmost model. This is due to the downward orientation, which could be especially on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, although all S21s have curved backs. Previous rumors suggest that the S21 Ultra is the only S21 model with a truly curved display, while the smaller Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 will have flatter panels.

In a second tweet, Ice Universe claims that the S21 Ultra's display will "break multiple records." Previous rumors have suggested that it will be 120 Hz, like the Galaxy S20 series. However, there are also 144 Hz displays, such as the one on the Asus ROG Phone 3, and if Samsung has decided to prioritize refresh rates, there is no reason why this number should not be higher.

The size and resolution of the three Galaxy S21 models are expected to be the same as the S20 series. Therefore, it is not clear where Samsung will break the record, given that Samsung makes phones with larger screens, foldable displays, and there are also phones with 4K displays. It would be overkill for Samsung to make a phone with an 8K display, because it would use too much power.

Perhaps the key could be the LTPO technology rumored for the S21 Ultra. This technology, first shown in Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, allows for a true variable refresh rate that can be throttled down to 1 Hz when the display is not in use, thus saving battery life.

Initially, the Galaxy S21 was rumored to be Samsung's first phone with an under-display selfie camera. Unfortunately, that now appears to be false, and it is believed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be Samsung's first phone with this technology.

According to other Galaxy S21 rumors, all three models will use the new Snapdragon 875 or Exynos 2100 chips, depending on the region where they are sold. We also see the same camera technology as the S20 series, but it appears that the S21 Ultra will add a second telephoto camera and give users access to two different optical zoom options: 3x and 10x.

Recent rumors suggest that the S21 will debut in January 2021; it is believed that it will launch earlier than usual to compete with the iPhone 12. The Galaxy Z Flip 2 may also make an appearance at this event, which could come out later in the year along with the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
