Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Leak reveals Killer Display — Let's see

New renderings of Samsung's Galaxy S21 Ultra give us another good look at the Korean phone maker's next flagship device.

Shared on Twitter by Ice Universe, these are CAD shots, so they aren't as pretty as other renderings we've seen. But what they lack in visual appeal, they make up for in accuracy to the final product.

The most notable aspect of these renderings is the curved edges. Samsung is offering a flatter display in the Galaxy S20 series, while maintaining its trademark "edge display" in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series. Both of these series are expected to merge next year, so at least the top-of-the-line S20 Ultra will retain its curved screen.

The Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus, the other two models we may see, may instead feature flat displays, based on other rumors we have heard and rendered images we have seen in the past. However, these are only rendered images of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, so we cannot reconfirm that at this time.

A look at the bottom edge of the phone reveals, unsurprisingly, a USB-C port. Whether Samsung will provide a cable and charger is another matter. Apple made the surprising move of removing the charging brick from the iPhone 12 box, but at least one branch of Samsung thought this was very strange.

However, Apple has a habit of kicking off unfortunate smartphone trends, and recent rumors claimed that Samsung was considering removing the charging brick from the phone's box. Apple definitely started the trend of removing the headphone jack, and sure enough, according to this rendering, the Galaxy S21 has no headphone jack.

The bezels on this S21 Ultra render, especially the lower "chin" bezel, are very narrow; Ice Universe previously claimed that the bezels on the Galaxy S21 are particularly narrow, giving the phone a modern look.

Samsung is working on what it calls a "blade bezel" to make the bezel even less noticeable, but it will likely still be a few years before it is implemented in actual phones. We expect more exciting features from the display itself, which will likely share the S20 and Note 20's QHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate; the S21 Ultra will also feature a fully variable between 1 and 120Hz to maximize battery efficiency It may feature LTPO technology that allows for refresh rates.

As for cameras, the S21 and S21 Plus will likely employ a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera (optical/digital zoom unknown); the S21 Ultra will instead employ a 108MP main camera with 3x zoom and a 10x zoom telephoto camera for ultimate photographic versatility.

The S21 series is also expected to feature the Snapdragon 875 and Exynos 2100 chipsets, depending on where they are purchased. While Snapdragon chips usually outperform Exynos when it comes to computing power, early benchmarks show Samsung chips significantly outperforming Qualcomm chips.

The Galaxy S21 is expected to be released next January. Usually, Galaxy S series phones are released in February, but Samsung is likely to launch earlier this year to avoid losing sales to capable rivals like the iPhone 12 and OnePlus 8T.
