How to Watch Lego Star Wars Holiday Specials at Disney Plus

In a galaxy far, far away, the season has arrived, inspired by the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, which has become something of a legend since George Lucas hated it so much that it was never made into a video.

In the original special, Chewbacca and Han Solo visited the Wookiee home planet to celebrate the Day of Life (the Star Wars version of Christmas). The new LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special takes place after "Star Wars: Skywalker Strikes Back" and reunites Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and the droids for a joyous feast on Life Day.

Rey, with BB-8 by her side, flies off to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At the mysterious Jedi Temple, she is taken on an adventure across the timeline of beloved moments in Star Wars film history, interacting with iconic heroes and villains from all nine films in the Skywalker saga, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, and Obi-Wan. She is driven. But will she make it to the celebration of the day of her life and learn the true meaning of the holiday spirit?

The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special was directed by Ken Cunningham, written by David Shayne, and brought to life by Atomic Cartoon.

If you have never even heard of the Star Wars Holiday Special, that is not surprising. The show aired once on CBS in 1978. George Lucas produced it, but he was unhappy with the final product. As a result, the special was never rebroadcast or released on home video or digital. Bootlegs are available.

The Star Wars Holiday Special is drawn between Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The story is about Chewbacca and Han Solo visiting the Wookiee home planet of Kashyyyk. There they spend time with Chewie's family, including his wife Mara, son Lumpy, and father Itchy. However, Chewie and Han are known rebel fighters and are pursued by the Empire there.
