Finally! Amazon Fire TV devices are getting HBO Max

HBO Max and Fire TV finally become friends. Nearly six months after Warner Media launched HBO Max, the streaming service will finally be available on Amazon's Fire TV platform.

Starting November 17, more than 40 million Fire TV users will finally be able to download the HBO Max app and enjoy "Friends," "Game of Thrones," "The Sopranos," "The Big Bang Theory" and "South Park" to their heart's content.

HBO Max contains over 10,000 hours of library content from HBO, Warner Brothers, DC, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Turner Classic Movies, and more. The company also produces original programming such as "American Pickle," "The Witches," "Love Life," the recent "West Wing" reunion special, and the upcoming "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" reunion special.

HBO Max was not available on Fire TV or Roku, which launched in late May. According to market research firm Parks Associates, these two platforms accounted for 69% of the streaming market in 2019.

At the time, The Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon and WarnerMedia were "at odds over where to put content and access to user data."
