Apple Leaks make fun of "Christmas surprises" – here's what we can see

Despite Apple's "One More Thing" event last week for the new MacBook Air and other new Macs with the powerful M1 chip, it looks like another "One More Thing" is coming this year.

That's because leaker L0vetodream claims in a new tweet that there will be a "Christmas surprise from Apple." Apparently it will be winter appropriate.

This seems a bit like the "12 Days of Gifts" that Apple ran every Christmas until 2014. By opening a special app each day, users could get free apps, TV shows, and movies. However, Apple's business focus has changed so much in the last six years that it is unlikely that this will return intact.

What we can immediately think of is that Apple might release some new accessory for the iPhone 12; it could be a new MagSafe-related item, since MagSafe is one of the more important features of the latest iPhone. Or it could be something for use with the new iPad Air, Apple Silicon MacBook Pro M1, or other recently released devices.

Similarly, it could be a much-rumored product that we expect to launch but has yet to appear: the AirTags tracker and AirPods Studio over-ear headphones come to mind, both devices that the latest rumors point to an early 2021 launch .

The surprise, however, may not be a physical item. Fledgling leaker LeaksApplePro thinks Apple will release some free software, but this seems to be an opinion and not a proper leak. Similarly, Apple may release some Apple TV Plus content for free and give all Apple device owners free access to this service.

It is also possible that this surprise is something we already know about but have not been given a specific release date. For example, the Apple Fitness Plus still has a vague "late 2020" release date, which would definitely be in line with what L0vetodream suggested. However, we already know a lot about the Fitness Plus since it was announced in September, so this is not much of a surprise.

Of course, the above should be taken with a pinch of salt, as this leak could prove to be completely wrong. Time will tell, as it has in the past, whether this leak will bear fruit.
