AMD Radeon RX6800XT gives RTX3090 a big problem - here's the proof

While it has been a year of console launches, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X making their debut, PC gamers have also seen impressive results. As one example, the next generation of gaming PCs from both Nvidia and AMD, respectively, offer gamers more choice and flexibility, allowing them to configure their gaming PCs with the best equipment possible.

However, while Nvidia has been quiet for some time as one of the most capable competitors in this space, things appear to be turning around a bit; AMD has been able to gain a slight edge over Nvidia in terms of performance gains that could surpass Nvidia's GPU product line with the simple act of overclocking. AMD seems to be gaining some ground on Nvidia in terms of performance gains that could surpass Nvidia's GPU product line.

Thanks to a deleted tweet from Twitter user @OneRaichu and the attached screenshot, we know that the Radeon RX 6800 XT was previously demonstrated at clock speeds above 2.5GHz. Furthermore, the power consumption was stated to be well below the card's expected spec of 300W.

@OneRaichu cheekily instructed users to ignore the image after deleting it, but these numbers are very close to the capabilities of the Nvidia RTX 3090. In fact, with stats like these, it is not impossible that an AMD card could outperform Nvidia's flagship if put to the test.

This is not the first leak indicating that the RX 6800 could outperform additional cards like the RTX 3070, with an earlier note by Twitter user @PJ_Lab_UH showing the RX 6800 scoring 16,775 in the 3DMark TimeSpy benchmark, a considerable lead over the RTX 3070.

Leaked images show the RX 6800 being tested on a machine with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500X. This means that the RX 6800 could outperform the RTX 3070 in some respects, despite being a much cheaper and more affordable card at only $499. It is still a bit early to see exactly how the situation between these two brands stacks up, but early leaks seem to indicate some brief competition is forming.

The battle for supremacy between AMD and Nvidia seems to be heating up to a fairly healthy temperature. This is especially exciting for PC gamers who are hungry for options. Of course, one has to take leaked information with a grain of salt at first, but this kind of power struggle has the potential to change things for PC builders, and we'll know a lot more once AMD's GPUs hit the market.
