AMD is quite busy at the moment, not only with its new lineup of Zen 3 processors and Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs, but also supplying components for the Xbox Series X and Sony's PlayStation 5.

So it may come as no surprise that, as with the Nvidia RTX 3000 series graphics cards, the early birds will be the ones hoping to get their hands on a Big Navi card at launch.

The latest warning comes from an ASUS representative on the Sweclockers Forums. In response to a question about how likely inventory is, he painted a worrisome picture familiar to anyone who has ever tried to buy high-profile hardware when it launches in 2020.

"I think it will be quite limited and I think it will sell out quickly," the representative wrote (via Google Translate).

"More RX6800, less 6800XT... Now as with basically all graphics cards, we expect everything to be gone in a few minutes, so you'll have to hang on to your locks.

"Then it will be 1-2 weeks before we start delivering Partners cards, but it is too early to say what the supply will be.

On one level, this is not at all surprising. Even more so in 2020, when the coronavirus will disrupt the supply chain and require a severe social distancing.

PS5 and Xbox Series X inventory was all bought up almost immediately, as was the first batch of Nvidia's RTX 3000 series GPUs; given that AMD's new cards offer similar performance to Nvidia's latest at a much cheaper price, it's a big It would be quite odd if there wasn't a demand for them.

On the other hand, however, there have been earlier hints that AMD does not expect serious supply problems.
