The era of Apple's silicon MacBooks officially begins next week, and we now know how many products could be unveiled when Tim Cook takes the virtual stage.

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple will unveil as many as three new MacBooks at its "One More Thing" event on November 10. We can expect at least a new 13-inch MacBook Air and a new 13-inch MacBook Pro.

There may also be a new 16-inch MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon. However, other than a new processor, "significant design changes" are not expected.

Reports indicate that the new Apple Silicon-equipped MacBooks will feature the A14 chip, the same processor found in the iPhone 12 and the new iPad Air 4. According to our iPhone 12 benchmarks, Apple's chip dominates other Android phones, but it remains to be seen how it will stand up against Windows PCs.

Another advantage of Apple silicon is efficiency: the ARM-based A14, based on a 5nm process, should help the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro hold a charge longer without increasing battery size.

Apple has stated that the transition from Intel processors will take two years, but the launch of these new MacBooks is a real threat to Intel. Intel's latest Tiger Lake processors use a 10nm process, and chipmakers are starting to feel pressure from Qualcomm as well as Apple.

Apple is also reportedly working on a new Apple Silicon iMac and a new Mac Pro that may be half the size of the current tower. However, it is not clear whether the new Mac Pro will complement or replace the existing models.
