The PS5 is set to launch on November 12, and Sony has already sent review samples to publications and influencers. Thanks to a deep dive by tech YouTuber Austin Evans, we were able to get the closest look at the new PS5 controller and catch a glimpse of some amazing new features.

Quickly, the DualSense controller is not white as shown in the press photos. It is a more grayish color, reminiscent of the original PlayStation controller. It is also slightly larger than the PS4 controller and, according to Evans, the buttons are more dampened so that you can feel the weight of each press

At this time, the reviewer cannot show PS5 gameplay, but Evans was able to connect the dual-sense controller to other devices. Not surprisingly, it did not work on the Xbox One. Sony also did not reveal whether the PS5 DualSense controller is compatible with the PS4, but Evans was able to make the connection. Unfortunately, only the microphone worked. Therefore, it is possible that Sony will implement an update to enable DualSense backward compatibility on PS4.

Interestingly, DualSense can connect to PC and Android, although the box does not advertise it as such. Thus, through xCloud game streaming, Evans was able to play "Forza Horizon" on his phone using a PS5 controller, minus the tactile feedback and vibration.

The bumps on the back of the controller are not merely for better grip, but for artistic flair. The bumps are a series of small crosses, triangles, squares, and circles, the same symbol Sony uses for the face buttons.

Evans also found a second microphone on the back of the controller, which allows the controller to be opened, a large rumble pack, a 1560mAh battery, and possibly for noise cancellation.

Every PS5 will ship with a dual-sense controller. A secondary controller can be purchased separately for $70.
