Windows10update is interrupting notifications and file search — what to do

Every time Windows 10 is updated, someone always has a glitch. And this time, there is a very unique issue involving notifications and File Explorer.

The guilty updates are the cumulative KB4579311 and KB4577671 updates. They apply to both the November 2019 and May 2020 versions of Windows 10 and some results have been screenshot by Windows Latest.

The worst problems are concentrated around the Action Center. This can be as mild as a delay in receiving notifications, or as severe as no icons or notifications at all. This can be temporarily fixed by restarting the PC a sufficient number of times, but then it seems to break down again shortly thereafter.

File Explorer is also affected, becoming unresponsive and causing the taskbar to flash. It may also crash immediately after startup, as reported by users on Microsoft forums and Windows 10 subreddits.

In addition, several more general problems have been reported. These include general performance degradation, monitor flashing and blackout issues, and printer connection problems. The latter, however, can be fixed by disconnecting the printer, rebooting the machine, and reconnecting it.

If you experience any of these problems, it is best to uninstall the latest update from the control panel and wait for the next update or official patch from Microsoft.
