Runner-up Deal: Garmin Phoenix 5X is half the price of Prime Day

Runner-up Deal: Garmin Phoenix 5X is half the price of Prime Day

Prime Day was a bit of a bonanza for Garmin enthusiasts this year.

Now on Amazon, you can save 50% off the list price of $399-$799

So how does the Garmin Fenix 5X justify the high price of entry when there are plenty of other excellent GPS watches from the company? Because it is a multi-sport watch with up to 20 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 13 hours in GPS mode with music, and it has advanced features like Pulse Ox Acclimation and color topo maps.

More importantly, it is built to last. The rugged design consists of a domed sapphire lens and a diamond-like carbon (DLC) titanium bezel. Its looks will certainly stand up to the beating.

We did not review the Fenix 5X, but we did review the Fenix 5 in 2017. And the Fenix 5X has many advantages over its cheaper version.

The most important of these is that it has 12 GB of storage, instead of just 64 MB in the regular Fenix. This storage can hold up to 500 of your own music tracks, but even more excitingly, it comes preloaded with topographical and cycling maps.

In short, it is a product worthy of its original price of $800. And at half the usual price, it is a tremendous bargain. If that's still too expensive, check out the other Garmin products on sale this Prime Day: the Garmin Instinct for half price at $149, the Forerunner 645 Music for $220, and the Forerunner 735XT for $170. Great value for money.

Of course, Tom's Guide has compiled other Prime Day deals, so check out our Prime Day Deals hub for wallet-friendly bargains.
