The Apple Silicon MacBook and other Macs powered by Apple's ARM-based chips will not debut with the iPhone 12. Instead, they will have their own event later this year.

This news comes to us from the reliable Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. He placed this idea deep in the preview article for the October 13 Apple iPhone 12 event. He noted that Apple's silicon Mac "will make an appearance at another launch event in November."

Three events in three months seems like a lot for Apple, since Apple typically holds up to two major showcases in the fall. However, the Apple Silicon Mac is a very big undertaking and shift for Tim Cook's company. [Production of Apple Silicon-based Macs marks the first time the company has switched from Intel-based Macs since 2006, when it transitioned from PowerPC processors. As Apple explained at this summer's WWDC 2020 event, Apple Silicon CPUs will be faster, improve power efficiency for longer battery life, and enable emulation of iPhone and iPad apps.

It will also allow Apple to have more control over the manufacturing of the chips, rather than purchasing them from Intel, which will allow Apple to lower its prices.

Garman also noted that "other products" will be featured at the event, which could be AirPods Studio over-ear headphones, wireless AirPower charging products, and/or AirTags.

However, Gurman suggests that the AirPods Studio and the rumored HomePod Mini could make an appearance at next week's event.

Spacing these products out in this way makes sense, as the leaked information gives enough information to believe that Apple will launch four new iPhones this fall, which would take a lot of time away from next week's online-only briefing. These devices include the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.
