Best Buy launching Black Friday Oct. Battle Prime Day on the 13th (yes, really)

While it is common to see other retailers holding their own sales events in response to Amazon's Prime Day, Best Buy has taken it to a new level. Best Buy, a leading electronics retailer, announced that it will hold a special "Black Friday" sales event on October 13 and 14.

According to a press release, the October Black Friday event will allow customers to purchase special items featured in Best Buy's unpublished Black Friday ad. According to the company, more details on Black Friday will be announced later this month.

Best Buy has teased some of the deals that can be expected on October 13 and 14, including a Samsung 70-inch class 4K Smart TV for $529 ($220 discount), a laptop for $119, JBL Free True wireless headphones for $69 ($80 discount and more.

Worried about further price drops before Black Friday? Best Buy promises a "Black Friday Guarantee," claiming that if items purchased next week drop in price further during Black Friday, it will refund the difference.

Best Buy's announcement of a Black Friday event in October is an obvious attempt to draw customers away from Amazon's Prime Day, which also takes place on October 13 and 14. Amazon's annual sale event will feature thousands of key products at discounted prices, including Amazon devices such as Fire TV and Echo, as well as countless consumer electronics and household items.

Rival retailers such as Walmart and Target are also expected to join in the anti-prime day action. Fortunately, we will be bringing you a curated selection of the best deals from each retailer throughout the week of Prime Day, so be sure to bookmark Tom's Guide and check back often for the latest deals.
