Apple's AirPods Studio headphones are poised to debut soon, judging by recent retail activity on the company's part; Bose and Sonos are among a handful of third-party audio brands whose products have been removed from Apple's site in recent weeks.

According to Bloomberg, employees working in Apple's brick-and-mortar stores have also been advised to remove rival brands' headphones and speakers from their shelves. The instructions came amid rumors of the upcoming launch of premium over-the-ear AirPods and the new HomePod smart speaker.

While there are several possible motivations for Apple to end sales of Ultimate Ears devices from Bose, Sonos, and Logitech, some leaked information points to the upcoming release of in-brand headphones (reportedly called AirPods Studio) They are.

Bloomberg notes that Apple only sold the Sonos One SL, a non-smart version of the Sonos One, one of the best smart speakers it has ever tested. The rumored new HomePod will likely feature Siri voice support, and the One SL will not be a true competitor.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is "also working on a smaller version of the HomePod smart speaker. This could be the HomePod 2 or HomePod Mini, a compact version of the HomePod. We don't know much else about this smart speaker, although it is likely to be an alternative to the Amazon Echo Dot or Google Nest Mini.

The HomePod Mini and AirPods Studio may be revealed at Apple's next keynote, which will be headlined by the iPhone 12. This event is believed to take place next week on October 13, but no official invitations have yet been sent out.
