LG's rollable OLED TV will finally be Launched - if you have$100,000

Nearly two years after the dazzling debut of LG's rollable TV, the LG Signature Series OLED R, it is finally shipping. But there is more than one.

First, this one-of-a-kind OLED is only available in Korea, where LG is headquartered. Second, this fascinating rollable may be the most expensive stand-alone electronic device ever sold. Seriously, this set costs $100,000.

Nikkei Asia shocked us last week when it reported that the LG Signature Series OLED R will cost "about $100,000." And when CNET stated that the starting price for this rollable might be $60,000, we thought $60,000 was ridiculous.

While the set certainly wows with its 3mm thinness, multiple viewing modes, and 100-watt sound system, $100,000 is a lot of money, and LG has been willing to add exclusivity to its lineup. As a result, there probably won't be many of these rollable TVs on the market.

Perhaps in a few years, the price of large flexible OLEDs will come down or, like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 2, may appeal to more users than the somewhat unsuccessful original Galaxy Fold. Customers want to know that what they are buying will not break, and it is hard to watch an LG rollable TV without holding your breath.

Of the LG 2020 TV lineup, the Signature Series OLED R is the one we are most excited about. However, the brand's top-notch models, like the LG CX OLED, can be had for a fraction of the cost of the rollables.

We can't say that these accessible models will make your jaw drop as the sight of an OLED screen spreading upwards from an unprotected base is some of the best TVs you can actually buy right now.
