OnePlus8T Tease Just Revealed Killer Camera Upgrade

With just a few days to go until the OnePlus 8T's October 14 launch event, OnePlus is adding more teasers in an attempt to get people even more excited about the features coming to its next flagship model.

OnePlus' latest tease hints at an upgraded camera, specifically an ultra-wide angle selfie camera as seen on the recently released OnePlus Nord.

A tweet originating from the official OnePlus account says as much, promising an ultra-wide-angle lens along with an animation of the front-facing camera in action.

You may remember that the OnePlus Nord has a dual front camera system with a 32MP main lens and an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens with a 105-degree field of view. Naturally, there are questions about what this means for the OnePlus 8T, specifically what resolution we should expect, and whether this means the phone will have dual cameras on the front.

Sadly, leaked information suggests that the phone will have only one front camera, with a resolution of 16 MP. This is smaller than the Nord's main front camera of 32 MP, but with twice the resolution of the ultra-wide angle lens. It also has the exact same resolution as the OnePlus 8's front camera, so it is certainly not a downgrade.

The ultra-wide lens, as the name implies, has advantages not available with a typical wide-angle lens. The wider the angle, the wider the area that will fit in the frame, making them ideal for group photos or selfies in front of large objects.

As for the rear camera, leaked information indicates that it will feature a quad-lens system with a 48MP main sensor, a 16MP ultrawide sensor, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. In other words, it will be quite similar to the Nord's rear camera setup, but with better ultrawide resolution.

The OnePlus 8T is scheduled to launch on October 14, or next Wednesday. So don't wait too long until OnePlus divulges all the details.
