The OnePlus8T benchmark indicates that you may miss a big upgrade

The OnePlus 8T may not have the flagship power of the OnePlus 8 Pro or OnePlus 8, and Geekbench 4 listings suggest it may not have the latest powerful Snapdragon chip.

Twitter leaker Sudhanshu tweeted a Geekbench 4 listing for a phone with the model number "OnePlus KB2000," with a single-core score of 3,843 and a multi-core score of 11,714. The model number and benchmark results are believed to be for OnePlus' next phone, the OnePlus 8T, which is expected to be announced on October 14.

Since we now use Geekbench 5 for our own smartphone testing, it is difficult to compare these scores to those of Geekbench 4. However, when we ran Geekbench 4 on the OnePlus 8 with the Snapdragon 865, it achieved 4,255 in the single-core test and 13,379 in the multi-core score. This is well above the leaked OnePlus 8T benchmark.

This suggests that the OnePlus 8T probably does not use the new Snapdragon 865 Plus found in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and other devices, and is an upgrade over the Snapdragon 865 found in the OnePlus 8 It is suggested. Typically, OnePlus uses its latest flagship chipset Snapdragon 8 series in its "T" model phones, and it is expected that the OnePlus 8T will do the same.

However, previous Amazon listings for the OnePlus 8T have this phone set to use the regular Snapdragon 865. Therefore, there could be some truth to the rumor that the OnePlus 8T will not use the latest and greatest Qualcomm chip.

Given the economic problems the world is suffering from the coronavirus pandemic, it may make business sense to opt for a more powerful and pricier chip. Samsung's Galaxy S20 FE also uses the regular Snapdragon 865 processor to achieve the affordable price of $699.

The OnePlus 8T is known to have a 120Hz refresh rate display and 65W charging with a dual battery system. This would make the OnePlus 8T one of the fastest charging phones ever, although it does not offer wireless charging like the Galaxy S20 FE.

For now, we take this Geekbench 4 listing with a handful of grains of salt. This score may be due to older benchmarks and lack of optimization.

It won't be long before we find out the full specs of the OnePlus 8T.
