Google Meet offers huge perks that Zoom can't beat

Google Meet is giving users a reason to continue video chatting on its platform. Rather than ending the "free premium" promotion on September 30, as originally planned, Google will extend the campaign through next year.

This means that users enjoying free and unlimited Google Meet calls can continue until March 31, 2021. This is exactly one year since Google started this promotion to help people stay in touch and compete with the best video chat apps.

Google Meet's premium tier is a popular option for businesses, but anyone with a Google account can enjoy calls with up to 100 people and no time limit. On the other hand, Google Meet's competitor, Zoom, imposes a 40-minute call limit on free meetings with more than three participants.

The paid version of Google Meet also offers some benefits not available to free users, such as 24/7 online support and even greater meeting capacity. However, if you only use Google Meet to keep in touch over social distance or to talk with colleagues at small businesses, the free version is probably sufficient.

Google Meet has since introduced significant upgrades, extending premium features to users of the free version. Meetings can now be cast to a Smart TV, and users can now ask Google Assistant via Nest Hub Max to join a group call.

You can now also view 49 people in a tiled view. In addition, the background blur feature saves you from having to clean up your bedroom or home office before you wish to make a call.
