Yes, it's confirmed: the "Boys" spinoff is real and will be injected into our veins in the near future, just like "Compound V" itself. In fact, it's going to happen surprisingly soon.

Oh, and it will take place at a university. Or rather, a superhero university. It makes sense, considering how the dark worldview of "The Boys" meshes with the emotional trials and tribulations of college years--even if you never thought to ask for it.

It may be difficult to determine when a spin-off of "The Boys" will actually be released; with the COVID-19 pandemic having halted filming on many films, 2021 seems like the earliest the series could begin shooting. And since Amazon is presumably hoping to alternate releasing seasons of each series, the earliest release date for "Boys" Season 3 would be late 2021, making a "Boys" spinoff likely in early 2022.

Amazon will launch this new show sooner than say A-Train. News of the "Boys" spinoff comes as Deadline reports that the series is "fast-tracked to build on the success of the original series' second season, which was the most-watched global launch in Amazon original series history. In fact, Season 2 increased viewership by 89%, essentially doubling its audience.

According to Deadline, plans for a spin-off of The Boys are "an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supers as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test and compete for the best contracts in the best cities." It is also "part college show, part Hunger Games," which sounds really camp.

We don't have casting news yet (it may be too early to tell), but we do know who will be working on the show. Of course, Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television will be the studios behind the show, as well as Point Grey Pictures, Kripki Enterprises, and Original Film.

Craig Rosenberg, executive producer of The Boys, will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. He also wrote the script for the pilot.

Other returning executive producers include Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, and Pavn Shetty.

Amazon is fast-tracking this series, but it is too early to expect a trailer. It is still too early for a trailer.
