Black Widow: Release date, trailer, cast, etc.

The Black Widow movie almost came out. Yes, it's been practically a decade since Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson in "Iron Man 2" (2010).

Some background: at the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the company announced the Black Widow title film as the first project in MCU Phase 4.

We've gathered everything you need to know about the Black Widow movie and organized it below for your convenience. From release dates to timelines, here is everything we know so far about the Black Widow's solo debut.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Widow's release date will be pushed back to May 7, 2021, instead of November 6, 2020. Not surprisingly, the release date for Shang Ki and the Legend of the Ten Rings has also been pushed back; the rest of the MCU Phase 4 schedule will likely be delayed as well.

On March 17, ComicBook.com broke the news that Black Widow would join a number of films whose releases had been delayed by the coronavirus. This could spill over to other MCU Phase 4 projects. We will update this article as more details become available.

Black Widow will be released in theaters on May 1, 2020.

We just got the trailer above, which is the last full trailer for the film. It includes scenes showing the bond between Natasha and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), and a dinner scene with the entire family featuring Natasha, Yelena, Melina Vostokov (Rachel Weisz), and Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour), the Red Guardian, in " Like "Wild Speed," the film is about family.

The new super-wide angle footage premiered at the 2020 Super Bowl:

Marvel released the official teaser trailer for Black Widow on December 3, 2019. Watch below.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Black Widow from previous MCU films. David Harbour (Stranger Things) joins her to play Alexei Shoskatov, aka Red Guardian. The Red Guardian is a communist who opposes Captain America.

Florence Pugh ("Little Women," "Midsomer") plays Yelena Belova, whom the Black Widow fights and drinks with in the Comic-Con teaser. She is said to be a sister figure to Natasha.

O. T. Fagbenle ("The Handmaid's Tale") plays Mason, a character from Natasha's past whom Fagbenle describes as a "fixer."

Rachel Weisz is Melina, a mysterious spy who, like Natasha, underwent a Black Widow training project. Like Natasha, she experiences the infamous Red Room, where young female recruits are raised by Russian assassins. Our guess is that she will also serve as taskmaster. In particular, Wise says her character is "deeply involved in scientific research."

The Black Widow movie will be the MCU's first film directed by a woman, with Kate Shortland at the helm. Apparently, the studio interviewed more than 70 filmmakers for the job before hiring the esteemed Austrian director. Shortland, known for "Berlin Syndrome" (2017), "Lore" (2012), and "Somersault" (2004), will collaborate on a script by "The Blacklist" screenwriter Jac Schaefer to deliver a powerful moment for Natasha Romanoff.

Every superhero movie needs a supervillain. Black Widow's foil is Taskmaster, a malevolent mime with the power to instantly recreate any physical action he sees thanks to his photographic reflexes. In other words, he can shoot arrows like Hawkeye and wield a shield like Captain America. It's not yet known who will play Marvel Comics' longtime villain.

For now, the plot remains as shadowy as the Black Widow's backstory. Johansson told Marvel's SDCC 2019 Phase 4 event, "I think we'll find out what Natasha's afraid of and what part of herself she's afraid of."

We know the film will be a prequel because of the Black Widow's sacrifice in Endgame. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige admitted that the film will be set between "Captain America" and "Avengers: Civil War" and "Avengers: Infinity War." It may depict the period of her life as a fugitive after the Sokovia Accords. The Black Widow film may also shed light on Natasha's life before she joined S.H.I.E.L.D. as an agent. But these are mere speculations. Audiences know of her journey as a selfless yet badass member of the Avengers, but little is revealed about her KGB history.

Actually, there is. One Twitter user, Thomas Polito, captured Scarlett Johansson, dressed as the Black Widow, driving a BMW X5 SUV.

The same user spotted the Taskmaster costume. The latest trailer reveals that the Taskmaster has vibranium claws.

We don't know exactly what is going on in this series of shots, but it appears that there is an epic on-road battle in the Black Widow's action scene lineup. When can we book tickets?
