Latest Windows10 Disaster: Microsoft Kills Update After Nasty Slowdown Bug

Another Windows 10 update problem today. Microsoft has pulled the plug on the "KB4559309" update for Windows 10.

Apparently the grumbling on Microsoft's forums has paid off, as the Redmond company has pushed out a new update in the form of KB4576754, which replaces the reportedly suspect update. according to Windows Latest, system slowdowns and installation problems have not been reported, and so far it appears to be working properly.

The KB4559309 update was designed to replace the older version of the Microsoft Edge browser with the Chromium-based Edge browser. This new browser is made to better support various features such as 4K streaming and access to Google Chrome extensions.

However, while the Chromium-based Edge browser worked fine, many reported that the Windows 10 system took a long time to boot and the sign-in process seemed quite slow. Not everyone was affected by this issue, but it was reported widely enough for Microsoft to notice.

And the KB4576754 update joined the fray, rolling out at the end of August. You will have to wait for it to roll out to your Windows 10 machine. However, if you go into the updates section in Windows 10 settings, you can scan for updates to make sure your PC is virtually monitoring for the latest patches.

The update also upgrades the original Edge browser to the Chromium version, whether people like it or not. However, it does not appear to be causing any slowdowns or system crashes.

Windows 10 updates have not always been smooth this year. However, it appears that Microsoft is listening to feedback from the community and working to fix what they may have inadvertently broken.
