iOS14 Supercharges Music on iPhone — Here's how

Although iOS 14 has just been released to the public, Apple has provided developers with a beta version of the upcoming version and access to all of its accompanying features.

Keep in mind that this is a beta version, so these features may be gone or significantly different when it goes live. Also, remember that this is 14.2 and there will be a full release 14.1 update with other upgrades before that. The following screenshots of the new features were taken by 9to5Mac and MacRumors.

The most obvious change is the new Shazam button in the Control Center menu, even if you haven't downloaded the Shazam app. As you might imagine, tapping this button will allow you to identify the music being played on your iPhone or externally.

Also in the Control Center, the media control pop-out will now suggest content if nothing is currently playing. It also shows by default all available speakers and TVs for streaming content via AirPlay.

When using AirPlay via an app, the play/pause control now appears as a pop-up instead of switching apps. This is similar to how incoming phone calls no longer take up the entire screen and instead appear as a small window.

For users with poor eyesight or who are blind, the beta version introduced a "person detection" option in the accessibility settings of the Magnifier app. This will show you, through the AR display, how much distance there is between you and the people around you.

Users with phones compatible with iOS 13 can upgrade to the current version of iOS 14. iOS 14 will also become the standard operating system once the iPhone 12 series is released.
