How to Watch Pen15 Season 2 on Hulu: Release Date, Trailer, review and more

School is back in session when you watch "Pen15" Season 2 on Hulu. Series co-creators Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle play themselves as teenagers in the year 2000 in seven new episodes of the weird, awkward, and hilarious middle school "trauma comedy."

The idea of a 30-something actor playing a 13-year-old kid, the opposite of an actual kid, is very goofy, but "Pen15" transcends its jokes (and its male genitalia-inspired title) to tell a sometimes painful, but always endearing coming-of-age story.

Pen15 Season 2 begins immediately after the big dance at the end of Season 1. Maya and Anna get a blowjob from Brandt and smoke a cigarette for the first time. In the new episode, they are still bewildered as they navigate the hellscape that is puberty. Maya gets her first period, Anna struggles with the news that her parents are getting divorced, and Blunt is still in a state of shock.

A new girl (Ashley Grubb) arrives and the duo temporarily becomes a trio. Anna and Maya then join the school play, one becoming a cast member and the other joining the staff.

Here's everything you need to know about how to watch Pen15 Season 2.

If you live in the US, all seven episodes of Pen15 Season 2 Part 1 will be available on Hulu on Friday, September 18 at 12:01 am ET.

That means lucky West Coast viewers can stream it tonight at 9pm PT.

Unfortunately, Hulu is only available in the US.

The trailer for the Pen15 season begins with Maya and Ana contemplating the most terrifying of situations: a pool party. They have to wear their swimsuits in front of their classmates ......!

The trailer sneaks in Maya's crush on Brandt, Anna's life in a fractured home, and the possibility of the two girls trying drugs for the first time.

Reviews of Pen15 Season 2 have been universally positive. Here are some of the comments from film critics:

The Hollywood Reporter: "For the first time, one could forget, if only occasionally, that Erskine and Konkle are performing highly challenging stunts. Instead, I can appreciate the encouragingly honest, brilliantly embodied, and often (deliberately, but not always) hilarious things they do."

Rolling Stone Magazine "Pen15 has definitely changed. What was once a gimmick is now a thoroughly wonderful and warm show."

Rolling Stone: "Pen15 has definitely changed.

Collider: "The seven episodes that make up part one of season two take bigger swings in both comedy and drama as the continuing adventures of Anna and Maya in the seventh grade. Erskine and Konkle are truly charming, and they are surrounded by an equally entertaining cast of actual children who showcase a variety of talents that keep the adults who are the stars of the show at their mercy. [27] [28] Mary Sue: "'PEN 15' is one of the funniest comedies on the air today. Rather, that is the heart of the piece. It deserves attention.
