Google TV and Chromecast just leaked - and it has a Killer Price

According to a new leak, forget Chromecast 4 and Chromecast Sabrina, "Google Chromecast with Google TV" is the real name of the next Google streaming device. And while this name may sound like a mouthful at first glance, it actually makes sense. And the price is so much more than just flying off the digital shelves.

For months, we've seen rumors of a new Chromecast that avoids much of what makes Chromecast so great. This will be a Chromecast that runs on Android TV, has an optional remote control, and will be very different from what we are used to.

The long name basically explains it all for Google, telling potential shoppers that it will support Chomecast from the device, but will also offer a Google TV (formerly Android TV) interface.

The leak came from Artem Russakovskii of Android Police, who tweeted the news that Target's internal systems had revealed details of the new Chromecast.

Internal pricing through retailers has changed, but the Chromecast with Google TV has now settled at $49.99, clearly cheaper than the $65 Chromecast Ultra. the Chromecast with Google TV is expected to stream 4K Chromecast with Google TV is expected to stream 4K, so we're comparing it to the Ultra rather than the $30 Chromecast 3. [It's the same as the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, but $10 more expensive than Roku's cheapest 4K streaming device, the $40 Roku Premiere. Still, we prefer the $50 Roku Streaming Stick Plus, so it seems the streaming device maker is going all out on this mark.

Russakovskii also revealed three branded color names, along with a screenshot that appears to be from Target's database; Target will apparently sell the Rock Candy colorway in stores, while Summer Melon and Summer Blue will apparently remain online only.

As for Chromecast with Google TV, more is expected to be revealed any day now from Google itself.

At this point, however, Chromecast has a significant advantage over competitors Amazon Fire TV and Roku.
