Samsung Galaxy S20FE Specs Confirmed - and iPhone12 should be worried

Samsung's Galaxy S20 Fan Edition has already been leaked several times, and now some key specs have been confirmed that should make it a strong competitor to the iPhone 12.

According to MyFixGuide, the Galaxy S20 FE has received TENNA certification, revealing the phone's screen size, impressive battery size, and overall dimensions of the device.

The first information from this certification is that the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will feature a 6.5-inch display. This would be between the 6.2-inch Galaxy S20 and the 6.7-inch Galaxy S20 Plus.

Previous leaks indicate that the Galaxy S20 FE screen will also offer a 120 Hz refresh rate, but it is not clear if this display will be as dynamic as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra or Galaxy Z Fold 2. Adaptive mode on these phones allows the Hz to go up and down on the fly to save battery life.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Max is expected to feature a 6.1-inch OLED screen and will likely be priced closest to the Galaxy S20 FE. And Apple is rumored to offer a 120 Hz panel only on the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro model.

The second important Galaxy S20 FE spec from this leak confirms a 4,500 mAh battery, which would be the same size as the Galaxy S20 Plus. iPhone 12 Max is rumored to have a 2,815 mAh battery, which would be considerably smaller.

However, Apple may be including an A14 Bionic chip, which is based on a 5nm manufacturing process and is said to be up to 30% more efficient than the A13.

Finally, according to TEENA certification of the Galaxy S20 FE, its dimensions are 159.8 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm, or 6.2 x 2.9 x 0.33 inches. This makes it slightly more compact than the Galaxy S20 Plus (6.37 x 2.9 x 0.3 inches), but slightly thicker.

The dimensions of the iPhone 12 Max are not yet known, but it is rumored to offer a thinner design with squared sides, similar to the iPhone 4 and the latest iPad Pro.

Other rumored specs for the Galaxy S20 FE include a Snapdragon 865 or 865 Plus processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. And it should have three rear cameras, including a 12MP main shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Apple is reportedly reserving the telephoto camera for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. This telephoto camera will likely include a LiDAR sensor for improved portrait and autofocus, and better performance of the iPhone AR app.

The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is heard to cost around $750, while the iPhone 12 Max is rumored to cost $799. So, given the S20 Fan Edition's spec advantage, it will definitely steal some of Apple's thunder. And it doesn't look like we'll have long to wait.
