iPhone12 leak just revealed a possible release date — when to expect it

A big Apple event will be held on September 15, and the iPhone 12 will not be its focus. However, we now know when pre-orders for the iPhone 12 will be placed.

Reliable leaker Evan Blass revealed a promotional email from one carrier that appears to be a placeholder. According to it, however, iPhone 12 reservations will be available until October 20.

The promotion states that customers will be "the first to get the all-new iPhone 12 and experience 5G." This is not a big surprise, as all four of the rumored iPhone 12 models are expected to utilize 5G networks. However, there has been some debate as to which models will support the fastest mmWave 5G and which devices will stick to sub-6GHz 5G.

Some reports indicated that only the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will offer mmWave, while other reports indicated that only the largest iPhone 12 Pro Max, due to the need for a larger housing and larger battery to accommodate the antenna reportedly will offer mmWave.

As Phone Arena points out, the October 20 pre-order closing date may not be accurate, as it falls on a Tuesday instead of the usual Thursday.

Based on this latest leak, it has been suggested that the iPhone 12 release date could be Friday, October 23. Working backwards from there, iPhone 12 pre-orders would begin on October 16, and the iPhone 12 event would be held on October 13.

The promotion does not mention the iPhone 12 Pro series, lending credence to recent reports that the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 will be the first to be released. iPhone 12 Pro models may be delayed to November.

According to leaked information so far, all four iPhone 12 models should feature an OLED display and Apple's fast new A14 Bionic chip based on a 5nm manufacturing process.

However, while the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max are expected to feature two cameras, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will likely have a telephoto lens and a powerful new LiDAR sensor. the LiDAR sensor will be used for "portraits," "autofocus," and "low-light" photography, portrait, autofocus, and low-light performance, and should also help enhance performance in augmented reality (AR) applications.

The iPhone 12 Pro device is also rumored to feature a smoother 120Hz display, but this appears to be undecided at this time.
