Samsung's 130-inch 4K projector looks like the ultimate OLED TV replacement

Samsung has added an all-in-one 4K short-throw laser projector, The Premiere, to its lifestyle TV portfolio. This home entertainment project could be an alternative to Samsung's more traditional QLED sets.

The Premiere offers a "big screen movie experience from the comfort of your home," a timely proposition given the pandemic's impact on movie theater attendance. available in 120" and 130" models, the Premiere is the world's first HDR10+ certified projector as well.

Unlike traditional projectors found in AMCs and luxury home theaters, the Premiere's short-throw technology allows it to be placed directly in front of an empty wall or screen. This means you don't have to worry so much about anything (or anyone) getting in the way of the image.

This placement also means that sound can be provided in a natural arrangement below the display. The projector features a woofer and Samsung's Acoustic Beam Surround Sound, which relieves the pressure to install additional audio equipment.

It is powered by Samsung's native Smart TV platform, which provides access to a library of streaming video apps, similar to Roku and Android TV. Premiere also benefits from mobile connectivity features such as tap view and mirroring.

Some of Samsung's lifestyle products are quite niche, such as the Sero, a rotating mirror-shaped set; the Premiere is technically a projector, but may be the friendliest TV in the lineup.

Of course, depending on price, it may not be as accessible. Premium projectors are often expensive. Samsung has not shared information about the price and availability of the Premier.
