Google's new Android tv Chromecast may be super cheap - watch out, Roku

The Google Chromecast 4 Sabrina is poised to compete in price with the Roku Streaming Stick Plus and Amazon Fire Stick. The new Android TV dongle is priced at just $50 and could hit store shelves as early as September 30.

The Google Sabrina's price is lower than expected, even lower than its predecessor, the third-generation Chromecast Ultra. It is also comparable to the retail price of the Roku Streaming Stick Plus and Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. Industry insiders believed the price of the new Chromecast device would be around $80.

The Sabrina is a major overhaul of the Chromecast streaming device and Google's first in-house Android TV device since the Nexus Player. The dongle is a stylish new oval-shaped design with a remote control that will make the device easier to use; the Sabrina's launch was recently confirmed by a filing with the FCC.

9to5Google.com found the Sabrina priced at $60 in a deleted listing on Home Depot's website, and Droid-Life also found a listing at Wal-Mart for $60. Android Police's reporter found it at Target for $60 and a release date of September 30. September 30.

The leak also reveals the names of three different colors of the dongle: Summer Melon, Rock Candy, and Como Blue. The first color is the pink seen in the leaked marketing image, while the latter two colors may resemble the chalk and sky colors of the Google Nest Mini.

Along with the hardware redesign, the new Chromecast devices are expected to support 4K and feature a new version of Android TV called Google TV. The new UI will include YouTube TV and Nest integration and Google Assistant functionality. According to previous leaks, the new interface will resemble the Fire TV home screen.
